Set Out and Refresh Your Yellow Jacket Traps
Although, they have been
quiet so far this year, don't let Yellow Jackets ruin your picnics
and BBQ's. Several hours before sitting down to a meal, set out Yellow
Jacket Traps. There are a number of traps on the market that are
safe, non-toxic and reusable season after season. Remember that as
summer turns to fall, the yellow jacket population will be increasing
so don't let your guard down.
The RESCUE! ® Yellow
Jacket Attractant can be thought of as the "software" for
our Reusable Yellow Jacket Trap. This patented product replicates
the insects' pheromone, or mating scent, to lure Yellow Jackets inside
the traps. The attractant will lure both queens and workers from
spring to fall.

What is Eating the Flowers and Leaves on Your Petunias?
| It is now Budworm season
on Petunias, Geraniums and Flowering Tobacco plants. The Budworm
is a small green caterpillar that feeds on the blossoms and foliage.
We control this problem with Safer's Caterpillar Killer also known
as BT. BT is an environmentally friendly spray that gives the worm
a fatal case of the stomach flu. Budworm season concludes in September.
Spinosad is another option for Budworm. |

It's Not too Hot to Plant Lettuce Seed
| There is still time to plant
another crop of lettuce. You should plant leaf lettuce over head
lettuce as you can harvest it sooner. The variety Red Sails is more
heat resistant than other varieties. Also, select an area that gets
afternoon shade as this will help prolong the crop. |
