Spray
Weeds Now
A bit of rain followed by warm weather has sent us our first
crop of weeds. Now is the time to spray with RoundUp, before
those small weeds grow and re-seed. Wait until the threat of
rain is out of the forecast for at least three hours so the
RoundUp isn't washed away. In cool weather, it will take about
three to four weeks for the weeds to discolor and die. |

Look
Sharp this Season
The pruning season starts January for many garden shrubs, including
roses. To protect your plants and reduce muscle strain, sharpen
your pruning equipment. You want a nice, clean, easy cut. While
you can have your tools sharpened professionally, many gardeners
prefer to do it themselves. It's also nice to have a sharpener
on hand for touching up the cutting edges throughout the rest
of the year. Navlet's features hand held sharpeners from Barnel.
Ask your friendly Navlet's nursery professional for advice. |

Don't
Drown Holiday Plants
Decorative holiday wraps provided with many seasonal flowering
plants are attractive for presentation but pose a serious problem
when it comes to caring for those plants. If you want to keep
the plant in the wrap, be sure to cut drainage holes in the
bottom and place the entire container in a waterproof dish
to protect furniture. You do not want the plant sitting in
water trapped by the wrap. Don't forget, Navlet’s has
a wonderful selection of decorative glazed pottery that can
be used to hold holiday plants. |
