Now is the time to deep water your fruit, flowering and shade trees
The Ross Root Feeder is the only way to water mature fruit and shade trees. Water is applied at the drip line where the mouth of the plant is located. The Ross Root Feeder encourages deep root development and delivers nutrients to the root zone where the tree needs it the most. That's the Ross Root Feeder. No gardener should be without one.

Make sure your plants are watered regularly while you're on vacation
While on vacation, the Gilmour Water Timer will water your deck, patio and hanging plants. It attaches to any hose bib and operates on batteries. The Gilmour Water Timer is programmable and repeats the same schedule week after week. So while away, remove the water stress problems on your plants with the Gilmour Water Timer.

Shade loving plants need mulch this time of year
Do not let Camellias go dry in the warm weather as they are surface rooted and will suffer water stress, even in afternoon shade. Camellias that go dry at this time will not bloom next spring as bud development is currently taking place. 3cu. ft. bag will cover 36 sq ft when spread 1 inch thick.

Now is the time to start fall vegetables from seeds
It is not too early to start sowing the seed for the fall and winter vegetables like Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Spinach, Chard and others. Those germinated now will be ready to transplant into the open ground in October. With seeds, be sure to pre-moisten the soil before sowing so the seed doesn't float around. Also, you will get better results using a seed starting soil mix rather than garden soil.
