Brown Patches in
Turf
Many factors can cause brown patches in turf, including fungus, insects, and dogs. Bring in a four inch by four inch by one inch deep sample of your lawn and a Navlet's Nursery professional can help you determine what your problem is. Once the analysis is completed, the sample can be returned to your lawn.

Note: Water stress is the cause of the brown patch in this picture.
Help Prevent Mites
Junipers, pines, cypress, cedars and other conifers do not require much water during the summer months. But it is recommended that you wash the needles off to remove the build up of dust on the needles. Dirty film build up and warm summer temperatures set up the perfect conditions and hiding places for mites to breed and attack.

Budworms
Be on the look out for Budworms on Petunias, Geraniums and Flowering Tobacco plants. The first sign of a Budworm problem is holes in the flower petals. This will progress to the point where the plant will stop flowering. Budworm is the larva stage of a moth. It is a green worm that blends into the foliage from far away, however up close it is visible. You can control Budworms with Spinosad or Safer's Caterpillar Killer. The adult moth is active through the middle of September so repeat applications will be necessary.
