TIMELY TIPS FOR APRIL:

Weed and Feed Turf
Weed and feed turf products like Scott’s Super Turf Builder Plus 2 are best applied with a drop type spreader and not a hand held unit. Hand held spreaders do not do an adequate job of distributing the granules over the grass. Before spreading a weed and feed product like Scott’s Super Turf Builder Plus 2, moisten the grass and overlap the spreader wheels so there are no gaps in coverage.
Sucker Growth
Shoots that come up from the roots and the base of roses are known as sucker growth. On most rose varieties sucker growth is unavoidable and these shoots sap the energy from the rest of the plant. With tree roses, the sucker growth should be removed from the base and roots of the rose, along with the shoots stemming from the main trunk below the bud union. When possible, strip the shoots off rather than cutting them off.
Bayer Grub Control
Control Grubs
Raccoons love to eat soil grubs, those slimy little pests that hide in your lawn, but there is no need to wait until the raccoons have vandalized your lawn to do something about it! Apply some sort of grub control product now before the raccoons arrive, and keep your turf grub free.
