How to Transplant Shrubs

Whatever the reason, some-times plants perform poorly in a given location. The plant may need to be relocated or simply replanted. Here are some simple steps to help you.

1     2

Remove the Shrub
With a round-nosed shovel or spading fork, sever the lateral roots by encircling the plant just beyond the width of the plant.

Trim the Shrub
Once the circle is completed, gently loosen the soil with the shovel or fork. Lift the plant out of the soil and cut off any of the lower roots.

3     4

Plant the Shrub
Amend the native soil with Navlet’s Potting Soil or NSCP. Be generous; a ratio of 50/50 or more is ideal. Add a handful or two of starter fertilizer at the bottom of the hole.

A picture says a thousand words.
