How To Care For Your Summer Lawn

How to Care for Your Summer Lawn

By this point in the season, your beautiful lawn may be showing a few signs of summer wear-and-tear. Increased use, scorching sun, and a bumper crop of insects can all conspire to leave you with a patchy, parched, and weedy lawn. With a little help from your friends at Navlet's, however, you can keep things lush and vibrant. Here are a few basics to get you started.

1   Step 1   2   Step 2

Keep It Wet
Adhere to a regular watering schedule, ensure that irrigation systems are in good repair, and water early in the morning before temperatures rise. Deep waterings will train grass roots to go deeper for accessible water.

Work The Bugs Out
If you have raccoons digging in your lawn, chances are you've got grubs eating your lawn. Worry more about the grubs than the raccoons. Ask your local Navlet's expert about possible solutions, including beneficial nematodes.

3   Step 3   4   Step 4

Reduce Thatch
A layer of thatch usually builds at the base of lawns during the spring which may prevent vital moisture from reaching the roots below. Ringer Lawn Restore Fertilizer will help remove thatch and gently fertilize at the same time.

Let It Grow
If you haven't done it already, raise the height of your mower blades. You can protect the more sensitive base of the grass blades from the heat by letting the grass grow to a bit longer length in the summer months.
