How to Plant Bulbs
Whether planted in the ground or in containers, the right soil mix is the key to growing beautiful, blooming bulbs. All bulbs like rich soils with good drainage.

Here are a few simple steps to help you succeed in growing rich, vibrant bulbs in your yard or on your patio. For more detailed information, or if you have any questions, contact your local Navlet's Garden Center

1   Step 1   2   Step 2

Prepare the Soil
Use a rich soil with good drainage. To improve soils, use Navlet's Super Compost Plus for sunny locations, and Acid Planting Mix for shadier spots. Mix into soil to a depth of 8 inches. Add a small amount of bone meal or bulb fertilizer to the mixture.

Plant the Bulbs
Plant bulbs with their base sitting at a depth equal to a minimum of twice their height and space them twice their width apart. For a longer blooming season, stagger planting every two weeks.

Fertilize the Bulbs
Use Miracle Gro or any other liquid fertilizer after the growth is 6 inches tall. Fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks. This will keep the growth healthy and dark green.

Let them Bloom
Bulbs are successful in the ground or in containers. For smaller spaced gardens, try planting in a variety of pots. Use Schultz Bulb Planting and Potting Mix. It's an ideal growing medium for bulbs and it contains Schultz's time-release plant food.
