au Vin Beaujolais
(translated: Pears in Red Wine) |
1/2
bottle (375 mL) fruity red wine such as Beaujolais
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
6 firm pears
In a large, non-reactive saucepan, bring the wine and sugar to a
boil. Add the water and simmer for 5 minutes.
While the liquid is simmering, peel core, and quarter the pears.
Place the pears in a serving bowl and pour the hot wine mixture over.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving. |
