Navlet's Mini-Clinic - How To Grow Spaghetti

OK, maybe not spaghetti, but how about a garden-fresh tomato sauce? You can grow the primary ingredients in a single container. It's fun, it's easy and you get that unbeatable homegrown satisfaction. Cook up a batch for your friends and family as a clever gift idea. Even if you're not a fan of spaghetti sauce, these simple instructions show you how to grow the essential herbs for most Italian cooking. Enjoy!

Start With Tomatoes
Plant 2 to 3 Roma or Mama Mia tomato plants in the center of a large container filled with Navlet's Potting Soil, amended with GreenAll Sure Start.

Prepare Your Future Tomato Plants
Place 5' Bosmere spiral stakes next to each plant and secure the stakes together at the top to form a "tee pee". This will allow the tomato plants to climb up the stakes.

Plant Your Herbs
Plant 3 to 4 Oregano and 3 to 4 Basil plants in a ring around the tomatoes. Soak the soil with a mix of Transplant Starter and water.

Water
Water daily until your plants are well established. Grow your "spaghetti" in full sun and pinch back Basil flowers to promote foliage. Then pick your tomatoes and herbs, cook, and enjoy!
