Navlet's Mini-Clinic Archive - How To "Force" Bloom Bulbs

"Forcing" bulbs is a term used to describe forcing bulbs to bloom out of their usual, natural blooming season. It's a great way to enjoy beautiful blooming bulbs year round. Forced bulbs do best in containers, affording you more control over their environment. Plus they make great gifts!

Gather Materials
Select a decorative container. Fill two thirds with decorative rock, sand, or marbles.

Plant 'Em!
Nestle as many bulbs as possible into planting medium; bulbs should be covered about half way. Water thoroughly.

Sprout 'Em!
Place in a dark closet until bulbs sprout. Check moisture weekly and water if dry.

Bloom 'Em!
Once sprouted, place in a bright window and enjoy! Bulbs should bloom in about four to six weeks.
